A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I have this thing with colour...

My name is Amanda, I live at beautiful Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Born in Adelaide and spent many years in Bondi i'm now loving a quieter pace in this beautiful beachside paradise. I'm inspired by the beauty around me, nature, textures, flowers, shapes and living near the beach there’s an abundance of inspiration to draw from. I’ll sketch out ideas but nothing really finishes the way it starts - there’s something beautiful in that.

Soma Clay was born out of the need to slow down and get back in touch with my creativity. I’ve been in love with handmade ceramics for a long time. I feel very at home exploring the slow process of ceramics and enjoying the small things in daily life. It's something you can't rush, there's a lot of time and love put into finishing just the one piece.

Creating with clay keeps me grounded, I love how it brings me closer to the essence of who I am, it's like a peaceful meditation.

Everything I make comes from the heart, I create for myself and the way each piece makes me feel, but I love when others appreciate my work, there's a little bit of my soul in every piece.

I have two beautiful studio doggie helpers Bronte and Luna!
